🎞️ Datamosh Music Video Maker (Web App)

Drag clips. Add a song. Mash them together.

This is a browser-based datamosh-style music visualizer for creating chaotic, audio-reactive video collages—no timeline, no keyframes, no presets to memorize. Just throw in some video clips, drop in a song, and let controlled chaos do the rest.

Designed for musicians, VJs, video artists, and anyone who likes their visuals slightly unstable.

Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Everything happens locally.

✨ What It Does

  • Combines multiple looping video clips into a single moving collage

  • Reacts in real time to your music (bass, mids, treble)

  • Applies datamosh-inspired feedback, blending, jitter, and VHS decay

  • Randomizes layout, motion, and blend modes on the fly

  • Records a finished 1080p WebM video with synced audio

Think: experimental music video generator meets glitch art toy.

🕹️ How to Use (Quick Start)

  1. Drag & drop video clips

    • Drop multiple video files into the Video area

    • Short clips loop best, but anything works

    • Clips float, overlap, bounce, and glitch automatically

  2. Drag & drop an audio file

    • MP3 or WAV

    • This acts as the master clock for everything

  3. Hit â–¶ Play

    • Visuals start reacting immediately

    • Adjust sliders live—nothing is destructive

  4. Click “Remix Layout”

    • Instantly reshuffles positions, motion, and blend modes

    • Great for finding happy accidents

  5. Click “Export”

    • Plays the song once and records the visuals

    • Downloads a finished .webm video when done

That’s it. No menus hiding behind menus.

🎛️ Controls Explained

  • Max Layers – Maximum number of video clips active at once

  • Base Size – Overall scale of clips relative to the canvas

  • Global Mosh – Feedback zooms, smears, and frame distortion

  • Chaos Movement – How aggressively clips wander and jitter

  • Audio React – How strongly motion and effects respond to music

  • VHS Decay – Analog grime: tinting, scanlines, and noise

All controls are live. You can’t “break” anything—only make it weirder.

📤 Export Notes

  • Output resolution: 1920Ă—1080 (1080p)

  • Format: WebM (VP8/VP9 + Opus audio)

  • Duration matches the full length of your song

  • Metadata is patched for better compatibility with editors

Plays correctly in modern players and video editors (and doesn’t freeze like some browser-recorded WebMs—learned that one the hard way).

đź’» Requirements & Tips

  • Desktop browser recommended (Chrome or Chromium-based works best)

  • Uses your GPU—more layers = more chaos and more load

  • Longer songs = longer export times (it records in real time)

If performance dips, lower Max Layers or Chaos Movement.
