Aleatoric11 - Beat Box & Rhythm Designer
Aleatoric11 Beat Box & Rhythm Designer (aka Pattern Designer in Aleatoric11 Studio)
Design rhythmic patterns. Use them in the other Aleatoric11 Studio modules, or do whatever you want with them.
The Aleatoric11 Pattern Designer is a browser-based tool for creating rhythmic step sequences and turning them into compact pattern seeds — short alphanumeric codes that capture your rhythm in binary form. These seeds can be shared, copied, or imported into the Aleatoric11 Rhythm Lab to recreate patterns instantly and keep your creative experiments perfectly in sync.
Built for musicians, producers, and experimentalists who love structure with a side of chaos, the Pattern Designer blends intuitive grid-based sequencing with generative concepts inspired by procedural art and chance composition.

-
Real-time playback: Hear your sequence evolve with visual feedback and adjustable loop timing.
-
Clipboard integration: Copy your pattern seed with one click.
🎛️ How It Fits Into Aleatoric11
The Pattern Designer is one module of the Aleatoric11 Studio suite — a growing collection of interconnected web apps for procedural music creation.
Other modules include:
-
Rhythm Lab: Generates complete rhythm sets from your pattern seeds.
-
Sampler: Load and manipulate sound sources.
-
Arranger, Mixer, and Synth Lab: (in development) Combine and shape your loops into evolving compositions.
🎵 Why Use It
Because randomness and control can coexist.
Whether you’re composing an ambient loop, building a dark-electro beat, or experimenting with algorithmic rhythm, the Pattern Designer gives you a playground where intuition and math speak the same language.
⚙️ Technical Notes
-
Built with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (Web Audio API).
-
Works best in Chrome, Edge, or Firefox on desktop.
-
Audio processing happens locally in your browser — no uploads or tracking beyond anonymous analytics.
💡 Tips
-
Each step toggle instantly previews your chosen sound for rapid iteration.
-
Try shorter loop lengths (8 or 12 steps) for minimal techno grooves.
-
Higher self-overlap percentages create dense, textural rhythms — think “machine breathing.”
-
Copy seeds to share patterns with other users or re-use them in the Rhythm Lab for remixing.
